The short version.
Industry Ledger Press collects only the information needed to deliver our publications, process payments, and send the email letters our subscribers signed up for. We do not sell, share, rent, or trade subscriber data. We do not run third-party advertising tracking. The press is funded by book sales, full stop.
If you want to know what we have on file for you, change it, or have us delete it entirely — email press@industryledgerpress.com. We respond within five business days and honor every legitimate request.
What we collect.
When you purchase a publication
- Your name and email address
- Your billing address (required by our payment processor for fraud prevention; we receive only the country, state/region, and ZIP/postal code, not the full street address)
- The order details (which volumes, which add-ons, the date and time of purchase)
- Payment information is collected and processed by Stripe (and PayPal, if you choose) — the press never sees, stores, or has access to your full card number
When you subscribe to the email list
- Your email address
- The date you subscribed and the source page
- Optional: the industry you indicated interest in (if you tell us)
When you visit the website
- Standard server logs (IP address, browser type, referring page) — retained for 30 days for security and abuse prevention
- Privacy-friendly analytics via Plausible (no cookies, no fingerprinting, no individual tracking; we see aggregate page views and country-level traffic only)
- Optional: Google Analytics 4 measurement protocol, if you have not opted out via standard browser controls (used for ad-campaign measurement only)
What we do with it.
- Deliver the publications you purchased (the watermarked PDF, sent to your email)
- Send the order confirmation, receipt, and any post-purchase emails (delivery confirmation, leave-a-review prompt at day fourteen)
- Send the periodic email letter you subscribed to (typically once per month)
- Notify you when a new edition of a volume you purchased is available (free updates within twelve months of purchase)
- Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and unauthorized redistribution
- Aggregate, de-identified analytics to understand which volumes are popular and which articles are read
What we do not do.
- We do not sell, share, rent, or trade your personal information with any third party for any consideration
- We do not run third-party advertising trackers (no Facebook Pixel, no TikTok, no LinkedIn Insight Tag)
- We do not retarget you across the web after you visit the press
- We do not build behavioral profiles of subscribers for sale or syndication
- We do not use AI training datasets that contain reader information
The processors we use.
We share specific, limited information with the following service providers, each of whom processes the information only on our behalf:
- Stripe — payment processing. Stripe receives the information needed to process your card or bank transaction.
- PayPal — payment processing, when you choose PayPal at checkout.
- Shopify — our e-commerce platform. Shopify hosts the order record and the digital-fulfillment infrastructure.
- Sky Pilot — digital file delivery and watermarking. Sky Pilot watermarks each PDF with your email and order number at delivery time.
- Klaviyo — email automation. Klaviyo holds the email subscriber list and sends our letters and order communications.
- Google Workspace — our email infrastructure (the press@industryledgerpress.com inbox).
- Plausible — privacy-friendly analytics. Plausible does not use cookies and does not collect personal information.
- Cloudflare — CDN, DNS, and DDoS protection. Cloudflare may process IP addresses for security purposes.
Each of the above operates under its own privacy practices. We have entered into appropriate data processing agreements with each, requiring them to handle your data only on our behalf and only for the purposes described above.
Cookies and tracking.
The press uses minimal cookies. The cookies we do set are functional — they remember your cart contents during a session, retain your light/dark theme preference, and authenticate your session if you have an account. We do not set advertising cookies, retargeting pixels, or third-party tracking cookies. Plausible analytics does not use cookies of any kind.
Your rights.
Depending on where you live, you have certain rights regarding your personal information:
If you live in the European Union, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland (GDPR)
You have the right to access, correct, erase, restrict, port, or object to our processing of your personal information. You also have the right to withdraw consent at any time and to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. To exercise any of these rights, email press@industryledgerpress.com. The press responds within thirty (30) days, typically within five business days.
If you live in California (CCPA/CPRA)
You have the right to know what personal information we collect about you, the right to delete it, the right to correct it, and the right to opt out of any sale or sharing — although we do not sell or share personal information in the first place. To exercise any California right, email press@industryledgerpress.com. The press will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
If you live anywhere else
You have the same access, correction, and deletion rights as our California and EU readers, voluntarily extended by the press regardless of jurisdictional minimum requirements.
Data retention.
We retain your information for as long as necessary to deliver the services you purchased and to comply with our legal obligations. In practice:
- Order records: retained for seven (7) years for tax and accounting purposes
- Email subscriber records: retained until you unsubscribe, then anonymized within 30 days
- Watermarked file logs: retained for the lifetime of the order, for copyright protection
- Server logs: retained for 30 days for security purposes, then deleted
- Aggregate analytics: retained indefinitely (these contain no individual identifiers)
Children.
The press does not knowingly collect personal information from children under thirteen (13). The publications are written for adult business operators; we do not market to children and have no reason to collect children's information. If you believe a child has provided us information, email press@industryledgerpress.com and we will delete the information promptly.
International transfers.
The press is operated from the United States. If you are accessing the website or purchasing publications from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States. By using the website or purchasing, you consent to this transfer.
Changes to this policy.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be communicated to subscribers by email at least thirty (30) days before they take effect.
Questions and requests.
For any privacy-related question or to exercise any of the rights described above, email press@industryledgerpress.com. The press responds to every privacy inquiry; legitimate requests are honored without exception.
